Jack Grant and Mehdi Ben Lakhdar clash in Birmingham on April 18th

Two of the lightweight division’s top contenders will finally meet at the Arena Birmingham.

Cage Warriors’ lightweight division is hotting up, with champion Jai Herbert having just today vacated the belt to fight Marc Diakiese at UFC London.

The latest scintillating lightweight matchup to be confirmed for the first half of 2020 is former title challenger Jack Grant (15-5) vs undefeated French prospect Mehdi Ben Lakhdar (4-0).

Ben Lahkdar’s unforgettable war with Joe McColgan at the BT Sport Studios was awarded Cage Warriors’ 2019 Fight of the Year, while Grant will look to bounce back to form after losing out on the belt at ‘Night of Champions’ last summer.

The pair are known for their elite-level striking capabilities and creative fight style, and will meet in front of the Birmingham crowd at CW114. With Cage Warriors Birmingham events having built the profile and repertoire of Jai Herbert over the past few years, all eyes will be on Grant and Ben Lakhdar on April 18th to see whether a new number one contender for the belt could emerge.

Before that, more of the division’s top names will appear at Cage Warriors London on March 20th, including Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett, Mason Jones and UFC veteran Danilo Belluardo.

With the belt now vacated, it’s all to fight for this year.

Also just confirmed for CW114 is an exciting Flyweight matchup between undefeated Birmingham prospect Jake Hadley (5-0) and Shaj Haque (10-4).

Hadley is widely regarded as one of the top young names the city of Birmingham has to offer, and has recently signed a 5-fight deal with Cage Warriors. He enters the flyweight division in an exciting period, with champion Samir Faiddine defending against Luke Shanks in London on March 20th.
