Joshua “The Passion” Pacio won’t be the only athlete from Team Lakay who will showcase his talents in Manila, Philippines at ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR as his teammate Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly will be joining the former ONE Strawweight World Champion in representing the country on the blockbuster card.
Kelly is scheduled to lock horns with South Korea’s Sung Jong Lee in a three-round featherweight showdown in ONE’s return to Manila, which takes place at the Mall of Asia Arena on 12 April.
After an unsuccessful start to his 2019, the 35-year-old Baguio City native looks to come back strong and put his struggles behind him.
Kelly lost to Singaporean star Christian “The Warrior” Lee in their rematch at ONE: ETERNAL GLORY in Jakarta, Indonesia this past January.
Despite the setback, Kelly remains in high spirits, eager to collect his first victory of the year.
“This is a perfect opportunity for me to showcase all the things that we have worked on inside the gym after my tough loss last January,” Kelly expressed.
“I’m also very happy that I’ll be competing again in front of our kababayans (countrymen). I’ll make sure that they won’t be disappointed.”
Kelly’s older brother, Eric “The Natural” Kelly, will also be returning as he takes on Tang Kai of China.
Also on the card is three-time Filipino National Champion Ramon “The Bicolano” Gonzales who is looking for his third-straight victory when he takes on Akihiro “Superjap” Fujisawa of Japan in a three-round strawweight contest.
