Unbeaten bantamweight prospect Kenneth Llover and former two-division world champion Luis Concepcion vowed to deliver fireworks when they square off on Sunday, August 17, at Winford Resort and Casino in Manila.
The two met face-to-face for the first time in a pre-fight press conference, where Llover (14-0, 9 KOs) acknowledged the caliber of his opponent.
“This is a huge challenge. He is no joke. I respect him because he is a two-division world champion, whereas I am working towards my dream of becoming one. He is a good opponent, and this will be a good test of how far I can go. I plan to win by knockout,” Llover said.
Concepcion (40-11, 29 KOs), for his part, revealed he spent the last two months preparing for the non-title bout against the fast-rising Filipino in hostile territory. Beyond the physical work, he emphasized the importance of mental preparation.
“I have heard many things about my opponent, but it’s just going to be the two of us inside the ring. The more talented fighter will win this fight. I respect Llover, but this is not just physical preparation but also mental. I am going to win the fight.”
Event promoter Gerry Peñalosa, himself a former world champion, noted that while he is rooting for his fellow Filipino, the bout is a stern test that Llover cannot take lightly.
“Being a two-division world champion is not a joke. This is a huge fight for Llover, but he has to do this because he has to get through a fight like this,” Peñalosa stated.
The Llover vs Concepcion bout is co-promoted by Gerrypens Promotions and Kameda Promotions, and co-presented by Winford Resort and Casino Manila.
