Carlo Bumina-ang Faces New Opponent at ONE Fight Night 24

Carlo “The Bull” Bumina-ang makes a quick pivot as he gets a new opponent for ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart on Aug. 3 inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Team Lakay stalwart will now test his mettle against Mongolian sensation Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu in what promises to be a grinding bantamweight showdown.

Bumina-ang indeed is being thrown into the fire as he challenges the no. 5-ranked contender, but he wouldn’t have it any other way as he tries to prove that he belongs in the primetime.

This chance also allows him to hit two birds with one stone: to make a strong impression after earning that lucrative US$100,000 contract but to also avenge the losses of his fellow Filipinos which fell to Baatarkhuu in the past.

Baatarkhuu’s three victories in ONE all came at the expense of Pinoys, with two of those being from Team Lakay.

His debut was a unanimous decision victory over Adonis Sevilleno at ONE Friday Fights 13, while his last win was a second round submission win over erstwhile undefeated Jhanlo “The Machine” Sangiao at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian.

That explains the hunger of Bumina-ang to really perform and follow up his sensational second round submission win against Chayan Oorzhak at ONE Friday Fights 65.

“Para sa akin, gusto ko lang maipakita ko yung excitement sa performance ko at mapapa-wow sila sa maipapakita ko,” he said.

Yet Baatarkhuu is also motivated after incurring his first defeat when Artem Belakh earned a technical knockout win in round two of their match at ONE Fight Night 18: Gasanov vs. Oh.

If there’s a safe bet, expect this match to steal the show from this loaded card which will see Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks and Gustavo “El Gladiator” Balart face off for the Interim ONE Strawweight World Championship in the main event.
