Carlo “The Bull” Bumina-ang is out to prove that he’s here to stay when he makes his ONE Championship main roster debut just a few months after winning the US$100,000 contract.
The rising star from Team Lakay tests the mettle of Asa “The American Ninja” Ten Pow at ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart on Aug. 3 inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
With all eyes on him now as he makes his debut in US primetime, there’s no better chance for “The Bull” to show that he’s for real and he plans to fight like it.
“Gusto kong ipakita na I belong in the big league,” he said ahead of his promotional debut.
Bumina-ang makes his debut after winning five straight bouts in the ONE Friday Fights platform, four of which coming from finishes in a bevy of ways, culminating with a second-round submission win over Chayan Oorzhak at ONE Friday Fights 65 last May.
If there’s something that he has proven in his foray through the Lumpinee circuit, it’s that he has the capabilities to end a fight in a flash when the opportunity presents itself – one that he plans to continue in this contest.
“Expect this fight na magiging explosive again parang sa last fight ko. Dalawa lang ang mangyayari dito: ma-knockout siya o ma-submit ko siya,” Bumina-ang stated.
Ten Pow, though, is no pushover as he’s riding the wave of back-to-back triumphs in the Muay Thai stage, the last being a third round knockout over Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon at ONE Fight Night 14: Stamp vs. Ham.
But he’ll only be making his transition to MMA for the first time in the ONE Championship stage, and it’s a question of how he can adjust against a very confident fighter like Bumina-ang.
This bantamweight pairing will be bolstering the card bannered by the former ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Jarred Brooks and red-hot #3-ranked contender Gustavo Balart for the interim belt.
The winner of this clash gets first crack at divisional king Joshua Pacio who’s still recovering from a torn ACL.
