Geje Eustaquio banks on experience in his clash against Hu

Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio is set to face yet another outstanding athlete in his quest to recapture his ONE Flyweight crown.

The Filipino star is scheduled to square up against Chinese standout Hu “Wolf Warrior” Yong in a three-round flyweight affair at ONE 164 which takes place at the Mall of Asia Arena on December 3.

Eustaquio, who is currently on a two-fight winning streak, looks to score big in his lone fight in the last 2 years as he plans to build a stronger momentum heading to 2023.

“I’m very excited for this fight at the same time happy since this will be the first time that we will have a live event here in Manila after a while,” said Eustaquio

“This is a big challenge for me. I want to keep winning and end the year on top. This Dec 3, I have 2 goals: win impressively and get closer to my goal to become a World Champion again and also, collect that $50k bonus.”

Fought the top names of the division since joining the ONE Championship roster almost 11 years ago, Eustaquio believes that the valuable lessons he gained throughout those years will play a major role in his upcoming match against Hu.

“Gravity” went toe-to-toe with fellow World Champions Alex “Little Rock” Silva, Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov, and Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes to name a few which helped him evolve both mentally and physically that has given him more confidence inside the ONE Circle.

“I’ve already faced and seen them all. That’s why I believe that my experience will play a big factor on December 3. I learned a lot in both my victories and defeats and I will show them all in my match against Hu,” Eustaquio shared.

Facing Eustaquio in front of his kababayans is an athlete who is also hungry to end his 2022 with a win and bounce back from his lone defeat inside the ONE Circle.

Hu is one of China’s up-and-coming stars who owns a win-loss slate of 9-4. He started his ONE Championship campaign with five straight victories before losing in his last outing against Former ONE Championship World Title challenger Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu at ONE: Winter Warriors last Dec 2021.

But for Eustaquio, regardless of the challenge that awaits him, the Team Lakay star believes that he can take care of whatever problem “Wolf Warrior” will bring to the table.

“For me, the challenge here is his athleticism, he is also tough and durable which we all witnessed in the Yuya fight. But I know I can battle it out with fight IQ, a good game plan, and good execution,” Eustaquio revealed.

Heading into his much-awaited clash with Hu in Manila, Eustaquio believes that the fans will be in a treat on December 3.

“I’ll be fighting with my fellow brothers in Team Lakay which makes this event more exciting. We all want to win and make this event very memorable for the fans,” said Eustaquio

“I’m very focused and training very hard for this fight at the same time, preparing for some surprises that the fans should wait and see. Nevertheless, expect the best Geje Eustaquio on December 3.”
