Zach Makovsky vs Asu Almabaev Added To BRAVE CF 60, In Brazil

The BRAVE CF 60 card continues to build more anticipation with just over 30 days left until the featured event. The show takes place in Goiania, Brazil, on July 30th.

As the fastest-growing and most-traveled mixed martial arts promotion on the globe, BRAVE Combat Federation strives to entertain fans with fight spectacles of the highest caliber. On that note, BRAVE CF is pleased to confirm yet another huge match-up in the Flyweight division as Kazakhstan’s Asu Almabaev (15-2) takes on USA’s Zach Makovsky (21-10) in Goiania, Brazil on July 30th.

MMA purists understand that the Flyweight division is somewhat of an enigma, showcasing so much dynamics in terms of athlete IQ, strength, maneuverability, speed and more. It is slowly becoming a division as glamorous as the traditionally hot Lightweight and Heavyweight divisions of combat sport.

And what better way to celebrate the 125lb league than by putting Almabaev and Makovsky against one another. Almabaev is one of his homeland’s finest exports, adding on to the pedigree of the celebrated Kazakhstan fighters. In 2021 he won the BRAVE CF Submission of the Year award when he pulled off a beautiful rear-naked choke against Ukraine’s Aleksander Doskalchuk at BRAVE CF 53. That award was followed up by the well-deserved BRAVE CF Breakout Fighter of the Year prize which he celebrated with another strong finish when he beat Russia’s Imram Magaramov via unanimous decision at BRAVE CF 57 earlier this year.

He comes up against a man who will be hungry to get back to winning ways after Makovsky’s disappointing split decision loss to well-known rival, Russia’s Velimurad Alkhasov in the semi-finals of BRAVE CF Flyweight tournament last year. That defeat would have been a bitter pill to swallow as it was Makovsky himself who broke the record books by cracking Alkhasov’s unbeaten streak in 2020.

As it stands now, Alkhasov is set to face fellow countryman Ali Bagautinov (21-7) in the final of the prestigious Flyweight tournament which will then crown the first-ever BRAVE CF Flyweight world champion. Almabaev is being touted as a future world title contender and could very well be on the way to becoming the future champion’s first title defense. But could Makovsky steal his thunder with a big win in Brazil?
