Birth of Second Child Ignites Roel Rosauro’s Fire to Win

Filipino standout Roel “Akiyama” Rosauro is more motivated than ever to perform to the best of his abilities in his upcoming battle in Bangkok this coming Friday, January 10.

Rosauro shared that his wife Almira is expected to give birth on the second week of January, the same week when he will be facing Yohan “The Iceman” Mulia Legowo of Indonesia at ONE: A NEW TOMORROW at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Despite the slight disappointment that he won’t be on his wife’s side to welcome their new baby, Rosauro is more eager to bring home the win and make it a double celebration when he returns home.

“When ONE called me for this fight, I thought I won’t be able to be my wife’s side when she gives birth, but of course, that’s a part of being a fighter and each match for us is a blessing and an opportunity,” Rosauro shared.

“I am working double time now to be ready for that match. I want to start on a winning note for me and of course, for my newborn.”

Rosauro cannot contain the happiness he is feeling especially, that a new member of the family is set to enter their lives in less than a week. For the Yaw-Yan Ardigma Cebu representative, there is no better way to start his new year.

That is why a win in Bangkok is a must for him.

“We’re all excited for the baby. After my match, I’ll definitely fly back to the Philippines to be with my family. But for now, I have a responsibility as an athlete and that’s where my attention will be,” Rosauro shared.

‘My family is getting bigger and bigger. All my sacrifices are for them and that’s why I need to double my effort to open more opportunities for myself in the future,” he added.

“This is for her. Maybe that’s why the match coincided with my wife’s due date. I’ll give everything to take home the victory in Bangkok.”
