Patterson Shows He’s “The Future” with Dominant Win at BRAVE CF 33

One of the biggest talking points of BRAVE CF’s return to Saudi Arabia was an England vs Ireland duel between two top prospects in mixed martial arts. Englishman Sam Patterson showed why his nickname is “The Future” as he dominated Cian Cowley on the feet before submitting the tough Irishman with a guillotine choke in the third round of their BRAVE CF 33 bout.

Before the bout, Sam had warned he had tremendously improved since his last bout, a draw with Ahmed Amir back at BRAVE CF 23, in April of this year. Indeed, he showed amazing footwork and distance awareness to keep the aggressive Cowley at bay and connect with big body shots and jabs.

During the first two rounds, Patterson was able to wear and tear Cian, who kept moving forward, but unable to have an answer to his foe’s offensive tools. In the third, Sam dropped him, and it was all over after that.

After the fight, Sam thanked everyone who helped him prepare during a four-month camp since he started training for his return in August, and had done nearly 1,000 sparring rounds. His hard work paid off, as he has moved up nicely in the Lightweight rankings and looks to continue to grow in 2020.

BRAVE CF 33 was the twelfth and final show of the fastest-growing MMA promotion in the world during 2019. Throughout the year, BRAVE Combat Federation toured around the world going to 12 different countries, including debuts in the Philippines, England, Romania, and Kyrgyzstan.
