Michael switched from Karate to Muay Thai when he was a child and decided to move to Thailand when he was 12 to become the best in the sport. He currently trains at the Petchyindee Academy, alongside ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Petchdam Petchyindee Academy and another Muay Thai legend in Petchmorakot.
The man from Cyprus has garnered multiple accolades since he relocated to Thailand, such as the ISKA European Title and Toyota Marathon Tournaments. Another notable award he won is the WMC World Title. Yet after signing with ONE Championship, his life as a martial artist had changed.
“Nothing comes close with ONE Championship in my experience,” Michael said.
“I used to have locals and a handful of foreign fans watching my fights back then, but now I have millions of people whom I can showcase my skills to. ONE also takes very good care of us athletes, they take our safety and well-being as a priority. Plus, I think this is the only place where you can see a Muay Thai match with 4oz. Gloves.”
The WMC Muay Thai World Champion will have his hands full as he takes on a man who had an incredible streak of 100 consecutive wins. Michael, who has resided in Thailand for around a decade already, knows the daunting task ahead as he prepares for Lerdsila.
Michael is grateful for the opportunity to train in his chosen gym and challenging the best Muay Thai athletes around the world on the biggest martial arts stage.
“I want to prove that I can compete against the best the world has to offer,” Michael said.
“This opportunity I have with ONE Championship is rare and I would like to repay the company and my fans by always giving my best in every match. I am able to support my family with my passion for Muay Thai in an international stage and nothing gets better than that.”
