LAS VEGAS – Kamaru Usman (14-1 MMA) was all smiles and playing to the crowd during his UFC 235 open workout, Thursday afternoon at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Usman hit the mitts and did some hand-eye coordination exercises with his trainer, and even showed off some of his dance moves in front of a sizeable crowd. All seemed relaxed and peachy until a random heckler with a MAGA hat on and a megaphone abruptly interrupted the peace.
“I thought it was a bum,” Usman told the media after the incident. “I looked over and it looked like a bum on the street that bought one of the replica belts. He had some little trucker hat. I was like, is that a bum?”
The heckler turned out to be Colby Covington (14-1 MMA), who decided to crash Usman’s party ahead of his welterweight title fight against defending champion Tyron Woodley (19-3-1).
Usman wasn’t too bothered by Covington’s antics, however, and vowed that if his heckler played his cards right in the octagon, he will get handled after Woodley this Saturday.
