Brave 17 hosted in Pakistan showcased Jeremy Pacatiw from Team Lakay, Philippines facing Uloomi Karim from Team Fight Fortress, Pakistan. The fight which was showcased as the co-main event was one among the highlights of the night as both fighters took the crowd to their feet with three rounds of intense action which showcased striking, grappling and wrestling between the two bantamweight fighters.
What started as a dominant standup action in the first round dominated by Pacatiw made the audience feel that Uloomi will not go beyond the second round. However the Pakistani bantamweight came back strong to dominate the second round with an eye swollen shut.
The fight went to the third round which showcased intense back and forth action between the two warriors with Pacatiw gaining the advantage. Judges decided in favour of Pacatiw by unanimous decision. The bantamweight from Philippines was appreciated by His Excellency Daniel R. Espiritu, Ambassador of Philippines to Pakistan. The bout was compared by fight fans from Pakistan as the real life fight straight out of the final confrontation for the film Creed (2015).
The moments after the fight was what made the fight event more memorable. The Team Lakay fighter took the opportunity to thank his opponent for the display of heart alongside each member of his opponent’s fight team and his opponent’s nation, showcasing true fighters spirit. The spirit showcased by Pacatiw was reciprocated by Uloomi Karim praising his opponent and thanking Brave Combat Federation.
“The bout is one among the most inspiring that we have witnessed. It is one among the rarest bouts where two fighters give everything in the cage and the winner is the sport of MMA and the fight fans. The bout will be remembered as one among those glorious moments that set off mixed martial arts into the heart of Pakistan. With such initiatives we believe the sport has a remarkable future. Also the heart and sportsmanship displayed by both the fighters is an example for the MMA world to follow”, said Ali Sultan, Coach at Team Fight Fortress.
Team Lakay is among the top fight teams in Asia and is among the top respected teams for the discipline and attitude of the fighters. Recently the Team Lakay had highlighted their social commitment as the team joined in on the relief efforts as they helped the victims of Typhoon Ompong. The team is among the most respected in promotions due to the decorum of the fighters and respect for martial arts.
“In Team Lakay, we are taught disciple and about respect. Our coach, Mark Sangiao trains not just MMA but to be responsible citizens who are valuable for the society. So our behaviour inside and outside the cage is the message to young people and we represent Philippines,” said Pacatiw.
Pacatiw is soon set to return at Brave Combat Federation following his fight at Brave 17. The bantamweight had expressed his interest to compete and keep improving his record while expanding his horizons as a fighter and as a global athlete.
