For the second time around, Holloway-Edgar is off. UFC Featherweight kingpin Max Holloway suffered a leg injury in training as per various reports that will keep him out of his anticipated title defense against former UFC Lightweight champ Frankie Edgar at UFC 222 in Las Vegas.
This will be the second time in just a few months that Holloway vs. Edgar was scheduled and then fell through. Holloway was supposed to defend the featherweight title against the former lightweight champ at UFC 218 in December, but Edgar was forced to pull out with an injury.
Holloway instead faced former champ Jose Aldo in the main event of that card where he won via third-round TKO to retain the belt.
On the other hand, Frankie Edgar has won two straight to earn another shot at the featherweight belt. He’s coming off a second-round TKO of Yair Rodriguez last May 2017 at UFC 211.
The UFC is currently trying to find a new main event to take its place.
