Myanmarese mixed martial arts fighter known as the “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang is the biggest sporting draw in Myanmar due to his spectacular performances campaigning as a middleweight in ONE Championship, Asia’s largest MMA promotion.

The way Aung is able to command cheers from the crowd is unmatched, and in the two times he has walked down to the ONE Championship cage in Yangon, the stadium was filled with an unmatched electricity that fans cannot witness anywhere else.

This Friday, 7 October, Aung (18-9-0, 1NC) returns to the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium to take on Polish punisher Michal Pasternak (11-1-0) in a three round middleweight contest at ONE: STATE OF WARRIORS. Pasternak, 32, represents Aung’s toughest challenge to date.

Pasternak hails from Pinczow, Poland and is a former title challenger. He went up a weight division in his previous bout, challenging Brazilian jiu jitsu legend Roger Gracie for the inaugural ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship.

Although he failed in his bid to capture the title, Pasternak feels he is right where he belongs, at middleweight taking on one of the division’s best fighters in Aung.

Losing his unblemished record was a tough setback for Pasternak, who came into the Gracie bout without a loss. But the Polish warrior soon realized he was out of his element against the much larger man in Gracie. Against Aung, Pasternak vows to score a statement-making win, aiming for either a knockout or submission.

Easier said than done, of course, as Aung is an experienced mixed martial artist who has competed for over 10 years as a professional fighter. The Burmese Python is also one of the most talented in his division, having won all 18 of his bouts by impressive stoppage.

Fans can expect fireworks when Aung steps inside the cage opposite Pasternak, and many observers feel a case could be made for the winner to get a shot at reigning ONE Middleweight World Champion Vitaly Bigdash in the very near future.

Aung is a winner of his last three bouts and remains unbeaten in ONE Championship, so Pasternak has an equally daunting task of overcoming the local hero. Pasternak on the other hand has just one defeat, at the hands of Gracie.

Regardless, fans are the real winners of this amazing matchup that pits two of the best fighters in the world against each other.
